CloudFlare and HTTPS

On September 11, 2013, MyWikis tech took the hard decision to disable CloudFlare in exchange for a HTTPS website. Now, websites will be given three choices.

Why?

CloudFlare charges for their Pro services, which allow HTTPS. We believe this is unfair and tyrannical. HTTPS should be put in EVERY website; not including it would risk consumers of their safety.

Hey... this HTTPS is giving me errors!

Until we can allocate some money on our budget to purchase a certificate, the warning will appear. However, this warning is only there because there is a lack of a certificate! Everything else is really secure! You can also avoid this problem by buying a certificate for $20! ==UNIQ--h-2--QINU Options == ===UNIQ--h-3--QINU Option 1: CloudFlare only === * Your wiki would have CloudFlare CDN benefits * Your wiki would lose HTTPS privileges and risk users' passwords being stolen ===UNIQ--h-4--QINU Option 2: HTTPS only === * Your wiki would lose CloudFlare CDN benefits and have slower speeds * Your wiki would have HTTPS privileges but without a certificate ====UNIQ--h-5--QINU Option 2+: Buy HTTPS ''certificate'' to omit any errors ==== * Same as option 2 except costs $15/year and adds trusted certificate.

Option 3: CloudFlare AND HTTPS

  • Your wiki would have CloudFlare CDN benefits
  • Your wiki would have HTTPS privileges but without a certificate
  • Your wiki would be required to pay $12/month ====UNIQ--h-7--QINU Option 3+: Buy both CloudFlare AND HTTPS ''certificate'' to omit any errors ==== * Same as option 3 except costs $15/year more and adds trusted certificate.
